Middleburg Film Festival Day 2: Roma

Roma is Alfonso Cuaron’s tale of a rich Mexican family in the the 70s and their relationship with their maid.  There’s a lot going in the background of the movie such as the parent’s divorce, the civil unrest in Mexico at the time, and the treatment of those who live in the slums. But what happens in the foreground of the movie is all boring, banal stuff with only two major exceptions. This movie is getting a lot of awards buzz, but it literally starts with driveway being cleaned in real time. So you know, make your own conclusions.
