Middleburg Film Festival 2016 – Day 2: I, Daniel Blake

This a tragedy about one man’s struggle against bureaucracy and technology. Because of a heart attack, Daniel Blake (Dave Johns), can’t work. His disability is ending and one of his doctors has not cleared him to work. Because of this he is not eligible for disability or  for unemployment. So, to retain his needed benefits he has to go and look and apply for jobs he cannot take.  It’s a slow build, and is sometimes hard to comprehend the British accents. But it is very effective in making you fell for Daniel as he struggles against the hypocrisy and bureaucracy of the government.
