Favorite Things of 2019

This isn’t a Best of 2019 list. These are some of my favorite things from 2019. Some of them are what I think are the best, some are pretty good. Let’s enjoy things.

Favorite Episode of the Mandalorian – Episode 4, “Sanctuary”

Ok, let’s be honest it’s this episode was just the plot of the Seven Samurai. But we were introduced to fan favorite Cara Dune, and we got to see a different side of the Mandalorian. Also,It’s a very good plot, that’s why people keep re-doing it. And Bryce Dallas Howard directed the best action scenes of the entire series so far.

Favorite New Traditional SitcomBob Hearts Abishola

Sometimes, you want to just watch a traditional sitcom. Chuck Lorre has created a ton of popular sitcoms and this is the latest one. It’s sort of comforting.

Favorite Videogame of 2019 Fire Emblem: Three Houses

I had never played a Fire Emblem game before this, and I barely ever played RPG games, especially Japanese ones. But I played this game to completion, and even started a new game plus. It’s an incredibly deep world, and the best written cast of characters in videogames since Mass Effect 2 and 3. This game got me to go back and play other Fire Emblem games. That’s how engrossing it was.

2019’s 2018 Game of the YearSuper Smash Bros Ultimate

If you look at my blog, you’ll see there’s a lot of Smash Bros content. I really got into it in 2019. It’s the perfect mix of fun pick up and play fun with strategic depth. I find other fighting games not fun while you’re picking them up. And other Nintendo games don’t have the competitive depth or the competitive scene. Ultimate is the best Smash Bros so far.

Wrestling Moment/Event of the Year – Wrestlemania 35

Wrestlemania 35 was like culmination of everything the fans had been wishing for the past few years. Brock Lesnar finally lost, when Seth Rollins “slayed the beast”. The women (Bekcy Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey) headlined and closed the show. Kofi Kingston became the first Black WWE Champion in almost a decade and the first African born one of all time. It was one of the most satisfying WWE Events in a long time.
