The Two Popes is an imagined conversation between the two living popes -Pope Francis and the retired Pope Benedict. It’s set before Benedict retired and before Francis ascended to the papacy.
The two popes argue over theology, become friends, and hear each other’s confessions. The confessions get pretty dark for two popes.
It’s basically a two man play. While it may not be that thrilling of a subject the presence of Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce in the main roles keep it interesting throughout.
