Elio (Timothée Chalameta) a closeted gay teen in the early 80s, vacations with his family in Northern Italy every summer. One summer Oliver (Armie Hammer) comes to assist Elio’s father with his studies. Elio and Oliver begin a clandestine affair.
I didn’t really like this film. The characters don’t seem consistent, they do things that don’t make sense with what we know about them. The movie is too ambiguous with character’s motivation. It’s also too long – there’s a natural stopping point to the story and the movie keeps going for another 20 minutes.
