Lucha Underground: Lucha Underground Season 3, Episode 13 -Hitoriki vs Pentagon Dark
This match blew away all other Lucha Underground Season 3 matches in 2016. There were a number of OMG moments in this inter-gender match. The fighters pulled out all the stops and nothing was held back because a woman was wrestling . It was one of the most intense matches in wrestling in 2016. Hitoriki not only stood toe to toe with Pentagon, she beat him and exacted her revenge.

WWE:Roadblock – Dean Ambrose vs Triple H for the WWE Heavyweight championship
Of all the few matches Triple H wrestled in 2016, this was easily his best. He looked the freshest in it. And it was one of the most technical and varied matches in the WWE. It also had the nice added wrinkle of Dean Ambrose, he who never thinks ahead, implementing an effective strategy against the champ.

NJPW: The New Beginning in Nigaata – Kenny Omega vs Hiroshi Tanahashi – IWGP Intercontinental Championship
This match just seemed to be big move after big move, before Omega (along with some assistance from his friends) finally put Tanahashi away. It was almost as if they were announcing that they would be main draw in New Japan since Nakamura and the main stars of Bullet Club had departed.
There doesn’t appear to be any highlights on the web for this.It’s only available through the NJPW website.

NJPW/ROH: Honor Rising – Roderick Strong vs Tomohiro Ishii – ROH World Television Championship Match
An absolute war. It had a slow start but multiple wow moments and great back and forth. I watched it on the NJPW app with no commentary at all available, but it kept my rapt attention throughout the long match.

WWE NXT: NXT:Takeover Dallas – Sami Zayn vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
This was Nakamura’s first big NXT match and Zayn’s last. Their styles meshed so incredibly well. A high energy match and one of the most entertaining WWE/NXT pay–per-view matches ever.
