Priscilla is the story of the Elvis (Jacob Elordi) and Priscilla (Cailee Spaeny) Presley’s romance from Priscilla’s perspective. Behind the curtain, Elvis is controlling, manipulative, abusive, and toxic. Priscilla seems trapped in a typical abusive relationship, it just happens to be with Elvis Presley.
This was directed by Sofia Coppola and she does a nice job of almost always focusing the narrative on Priscilla. It’s a very interesting counter-point to Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. Coppola is also likely the best director to ever show that being rich can still be extremely boring.
It’s one of the better recent biopics, though it’s not an easy watch.
