One day on a small Irish island during the 1920s Colm (Brendan Gleeson) decides he no longer wants to be friends with the “dull” Padraic (Colin Farrell). Padraic tries to figure out why Colm won’t be friends with him and tries to win him back. But the more he tries the more annoyed Colm gets. Colm measures to avoid Padraic get more and more drastic.
There are some amusing moments in the film, but in the end the overall setting and plot of the movie are too depressing. Like many arthouse films it ends on an ambiguous note, but it’s completely unsatisfying.
