Batman: Arkham City
Hands-down the best combat in any third-person brawler.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
This is a giant, interactive world where you can have so many different types of adventures.
Gears of War 3
Gears has always boasted my preferred control and combat mechanics for a shooter, but this time around the story actually matters. It’s unexpected, but this was actually a nice wrap-up for the series’ story.
Kirby’s Return to Dreamland
This feels very much like Kirby’s Adventure on the NES. That was one of my favorite games growing up and this game has the same cheery charm. Along with a few new power-ups that change how levels are approached.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
This is the Zelda that was meant for the Wii. The new control scheme works great and the game looks beautiful. Longtime Zelda fans will dig the origin story as well.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
This really is like playing an action movie. While the combat isn’t much, the graphics are breathtaking. Then, there are little details, like Drake’s journal, that fill out to game world so nicely. Also, this is one of the most likable casts of characters ever in a videogame.
