Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
This is the first Metroid game I’ve spent any significant time playing. This first person adventure was the first Wii game to have really effective FPS controls. It was also the first Wii game to really prove graphically that the Wii was more than just a Gamecube with IR. The world of corruption is filled with shimmering translucencies, realistic reflections, and gorgeous lighting that would not have been possible on the Gamecube.
Metroid’s puzzles are harder than those in Zelda, but are more rewarding when you figure them out. You might spend 15 minutes backtracking and exploring a level before you figure out what to do next. When you do there is a sense of accomplishment.
The boss fights are awesome, intense experiences. You find the boss’s weakness and start attacking it, but then boss morphs into something different and more difficult to fight. It’s an old trick but it still works and is even more effective with the smooth controls.
From control, graphics, interface, sound, and nearly everything else a game is Metroid Prime really showcases what the Wii can do.
