Moonlight is coming of age story of young black boy. The film is split into three parts- in one he is a kid, and then a teenager, and then a young adult. In each episode he deals with struggles with his sexuality and his relationship with his addict mother. This has been called the best movie of the year. It’s not that. But it’s a good movie that conveys characters and particular times and places well. However, like so many indies, it struggles with narrative resolution.
