I think this was best summed up by a conversation I overhead on the way out – “I kept waiting for something to happen”. This a slice of life movie with three stories of three different women that just barely overlap. The filmmaker made the mistake of putting Laura Dern’s story first. It was the only one where anything remotely interesting happened. I understand that there can be movies about small things, but there still needs to be character development, and you know, something happening.
