1. LostWinds: Winter of Melodias
The original LostWinds was a high watermark for the WiiWare service. It was a beautiful looking platformer with innovative controls. Winter of Melodias surpasses its predecessor in every way and also shines as a example of what a WiiWare game should be. The art design is the best on the service with a bright and varied colored palette and memorable character designs. The story is significantly deeper and more engrossing than the original. Like a Zelda game, Melodias feels like it takes place in a fleshed out world, not in a string of semi-connected levels. The controls remain as fun as ever and a few new twists have been added to the game play. Winter of Melodias is not just the best WiiWare Game of the Year, it is the best WiiWare game period.
