July was a bit of slow month for the Wii in retail. Aside from the usual movie tie-in , sports and fitness, and budget titles, there was only two highly anticipated releases. They are game of the month and the runner-up.

The original Wii Sports both showed the capabilities of the Wii and was accessible enough for everyone in the family to play. Wii Sports resorts shows off what is possible with the Wii MotionPlus. The Wii MotionPlus does not make things more complicated, on the contrary it makes things more logical. Younger children and older adults with little videogame experience will still find this game approachable.
Wii Sports had only five games to play, and most families or group of friends found two or three that they would play consistently. With twelve sports in the sequel it is likely that those groups are now finding three, four, or even more sports to play over and over again. The sequel also adds Stamps to collect in single-player and variants on the twelve sports. This means that the more seasoned gamers have reason to play the game alone now. This is a sequel in the best sense of the word, improving and expanding on the original.
