FIFA Review Update

Someone commented on my FIFA review on Blogcritics.  I had mistakenly claimed that the d-pad could not be used for player movement which is false.  In fact each button in FIFA 09 is almost completely customizable. I have updated the review here on the EC and the Blogcritics copy has been fixed as well.

In another little thing I wanted to say about FIFA is that it kicks Pro Evo’s ass.  I mentioned this a bit in the review. I been playing Pro Evo since the days of the Ps2 and original Xbox. I reviewed PES 2008 last year.  I thought it was too similar to older Pro Evo games andwas even lacking some of its previous features. I always considered FIFA too arcadey but this one is just top notch.  It is better than Pro Evo in so many ways.  Better features, graphics, more realistic controls, better commentary, Be a Pro mode.  All that being said I have yet to play Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. So if anyone has played PES 2009, and it is a vast improvement, let me know. I was thinking about doing a companion piece posssibly, but FIFA was so much better than I thought it would be.

Another little update about the site. Great in ’08 is done! Well has been done actually. Some may have noticed that downloadable game of the year was never put up. I decided against doing that becuase I played zero PC downloadable games, and it seemed odd to lump XBLA and WiiWare games together and ignore the PC. And I had already featured a few WiiWare games in my Best Wii Games of the Year Honorable Mention.

Just to mention a few of the best XBLA games that stood out last year. Bionic Commando: ReArmed, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, and Castle Crashers
